Continue to stare into the flame. You can repeat these words as long as you want or just once if that's all that's needed. You'll know when you're done. Let the candle continue to burn until the symbol you carved on it has disappeared, or until it's covered over with wax. Close your circle and the like as you usually do.

Controlling a Situation

You need a brown candle, controlling oil, parchment paper, and a black pen.
1) write down your situation on the paper, underneath it write the outcome.
2) Anoint the candle with controlling oil.
3) Put the paper under the candle, then the light the candle.
4) Visualize your problem and it being solved (meditate on it for awhile).
5) Let the candle burn itself out

Petition Magick

This is the easiest form of magick. It requires a piece of paper, a sacred space, and an altar.

Petition magick is used for both minor and major problems, and can be used with other magickal applications without interference, as long as your focus and deity system remain the same. Petition magick is a very simple operation.

Go to your altar, write down the situation, burn some incense, ask for guidance, and put the paper in the middle of the altar. You will get an answer.

Petition magick is also good for problems in which you choose not to use any other type of magickal application. Perhaps you feel that throwing magick at a problem will not solve it and seek the correction to move.

The petition should be burned after the answer is received and thanks given to the deity.

Boosting Self Confidence

You will need: a mirror, most any kind, other than compact; 2 candles, of any color, pink is a good choice, as it brings friendship and romance to yourself.

In a place that is comfortable for sitting a while, and fire safe, place the mirror with a candle on each side. Light the candles. Turn down, or off, any artificial light. Now, sit down in front of the mirror, gaze at your reflection. Sit comfortably and relaxed. Notice all your good qualities...focus on them...then say aloud how wonderful this feature (eyes, for ex.) are. notice their shape and color. Speak of them aloud. Do this with all your best features. Smile at yourself. Tell yourself how wonderful you are. State all the positive aspects of your personality, (your humor, your willingness to help others, etc). Name all the beautiful traits that make you special. Speak of them aloud, and with confidence. (It may not be as easy as it sounds!)

Now comes the really hard part--hopefully with practice and by doing the above things, this will be easier to do. Say this words (or whatever suits YOU):

Repeat this, at least 5 times per sitting. And do at least once a day. You may reuse the candles, but please do not blow them out! (It is an insult, to the air and fire elements) Use a snuffer, or wet your fingers and pinch them out. As you get more used to doing this spell, you may repeat these words or any words that you chose. (spells are great, when made personal. Maybe in time and with practice you will want to change them, or maybe you'll want to do that right away or not all. Whatever you prefer).

Also, to make an attraction charm to wear, simply find a chain with a pendant that suits you and drape over the mirror while doing your spell or wear it, so it is in sight as you do your spell. The charm gains strength as you continue to work the spell. This spell works! In time you will a noticeable difference in the number of people who approach you. I like to do this spell before I go out anywhere. (Much like putting on makeup in the morning...or, for you guys...showering and shaving.)

Confidence in Social Situations

Make or buy a small draw-string bag about 1-2 inches deep. Put in a pinch or two of each of the following:

- Nutmeg
- Pine needles
- Dried lavender
- Piece of mandrake root

Carve your initials and a pentagram on the mandrake root and tie the bag closed. During the waxing phase of the moon, consecrate and charge the bag. Wear it around your neck or keep it in your pocket. You will feel a surge of energy whenever you are in a social situation.

Spell to Help in Court Cases

When the moon is in the signs of either Libra or Sagittarius, brew a magickal tea from a lovage root, and strain the liquid into a glass container. Seal it tightly with a lid after the tea has cooled down; bless it in the divine name of the Goddess; and then store it in the refridgerator until the night before you are to appear in court. When the time is ready, light a new black candle and add the lovage root tea to your bathwater. As you bathe in it and visualize yourself winning the court case, your body and spirit will absorb the beneficial energies. After bathing, place the Justice card from a Tarot deck under your pillow. Go to bed and recite the following magickal rhyme over and over (either to yourself, or out loud) until you fall asleep:

To make the power of this spell even MORE POTENT, also brew a magickal tea from some dried Californian buckthorn bark, and sprinkle it around the courthouse premises at midnight on the night prior to your court appearance. Be sure to do this without anyone seeing you.

Gossip Stopping Poppet

Using black felt, a needle and thread, and stuffing, make a simple poppet to represent the offender. Cut a slit into the fabric for a mouth and stuff it well with slippery elm. Sew the mouth shut with a six-stranded piece of purple embroidery floss. As you sew, say:

Place the poppet in a box. Stuff the box with paper to force the poppet's face into a corner. Leaving the poppet as such until it removes the offender's urge to gossip.

Past Life Spell

On two white candles carve the word "Past" with a crystal. You may anoint with oils if you like but it's not necessary. Sit in front of a mirror with the two candles on either side of the mirror. Light the candles and sit back, staring at yourself in the mirror. Erase all thoughts, concentrate and repeat these words:

Stare into the mirror while saying these words and soon you should begin to see your face change. Look at it closely until you remember.

A word of Caution! Spells like these can really affect you emotionally. If you do this, you must be prepared for anything because anything can happen. Just be very careful.

Truth Spell

Light altar candles. Light incense. Think hard on the subject about which you wish to learn the truth.

Light petitioners candle...a candle representing yourself. (Can be any color you feel represents you) and say:

Sit, then, in quiet contemplation for half an hour. In this time will the truth of the subject in question come to you. Extinguish candles.

Compelling a Liar to Confess

If you suspect someone is a liar but are not sure, get a purple candle and dress it with Compelling oil. Write the person's name on a piece of parchement paper nine times and cross and cover that name with your name nine times. Place the paper under the candle and burn it for seven days while the moon is waxing. Each night you light it, call the person's name and say, "I compell you to tell me the truth!" On the seventh night wrap the left-over candle wax in the paper and throw it in running water or at a crossroads. He will be compelled to tell the truth then and may confess to many lies.
